I grew up in Plain City, Utah, a small town west of Ogden with a sister and four brothers. Our parents worked hard and required the same of their children. We had a small farm. I graduated from Weber High School.
After serving an LDS mission in Sweden, I received a BA degree in Accounting from Weber State College. I continued on to Brigham Young University and graduated with a Masters of Accountancy. I also passed the Certified Public Accountant (CPA) Exam.
My first career employment was for KPMG (an international accounting firm) as a Senior Manager in Tax.
In 1988, with two brothers, I started what has become the foremost plumbing and industrial supply company in Utah, Great Western Supply.
I met Marie Elm while in college and we were married in 1978. We had six children together, five boys, and one lovely daughter. We raised our family in Woods Cross, where I served on the Woods Cross City Council for 6 years. I stayed very busy in my church and in the community, particularly in the Boy Scouts of America, where I served as Scoutmaster, Charter Organization Representative and Assistant District Commissioner. Marie and I attended Woodbadge and Philmont together, I served on Woodbadge staff and I also received the District Award of Merit.
My dear wife Marie passed away in 2010 after a year-long battle with cancer. We have fifteen grandchildren and a thriving, happy family.
In the summer of 2011, I was fortunate to meet and marry Jane Hubbard of Bountiful.
